Telecom leaders in Africa to converge in Gambia for Africa Digital summit

Up to 300 top managers in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry in Africa as well as senior representatives from international technology companies like Facebook will converge in The Gambia from 25th to 27th March

for the 12th Innovative Africa Digital (IAD) summit.

The flagship event of Extensia Ltd will be hosted in the country by The Gambia government through the Ministry of Information and Communications Infrastructure (MOICI).  Extensia Ltd is an international firm that supports sustainable growth of ICT across Africa.

The three-day event under the theme ‘Quality of Service, an integral part of the ICT sphere’ will held at the Kairaba Beach Hotel in Kololi.

A press release from the organisers on Wednesday has it that the forum seeks to support the most pressing agenda facing stakeholders in the development of the ICT sector.

It says the event will bring together policy-makers in the ICT industry, heads of regulatory authorities, senior representatives from fixed and mobile network operators and ISPs (internet service providers), and senior executives from leading international solution providers to share knowledge, experience in the ICT industry.

Besides, 15 government ministers of ICT from various African countries will be present over the duration of the summit.

For The Gambia, the managing directors and chief executive officers of all the telecom companies and ISPs as well as the top officials of the MOICI will attend.

The IAD summit will stir the conversations and the high level participation from private, public sectors will create the highest level of networking and business engagement opportunities in the ICT industry.

“This unique gathering of leading decision makers will discuss and debate the best approach to ensuring rapid sustainable growth of African Telecoms and ICT,” press release from the organisers says.

It is hoped that at the end of the three-day summit, the participants will be equipped with the tools and resources needed to ensure the effective development and the sustainable growth of the telecom and ICT industry for their various countries and Africa as a whole.
